My Favorite Shots of 2024

Writer's picture: Savannah Agee-AllenSavannah Agee-Allen

As another year comes to a close, I wanted to look back on some of the photos I was able to capture this year. Join me as I explore the stories behind my top 10 favorite photos from 2024!

Important notes: "Favorite" is being used relatively here. I went through all my albums and chose the photos that spoke to me at the moment. The photos are not in any particular order.

#1 - Behind the Home Depot

Pictured: Diego & Tracy

You might be surprised to learn that this photo was essentially taken in a Home Depot parking lot! Tracy had a clear vision for her and Diego's engagement photos, and she somehow discovered the PERFECT wildflower field behind a Home Depot in Brenham. What I love about this photo is that if I were to expand it to the left, there would be cars and other people in the background, but in this frame, it's just Diego and Tracy. Not to get too sentimental, but I think it could be a metaphor for love—where all that matters is you and your partner, and all the other noise can be cropped out.

#2 - Me and You Forever

Pictured: Gianna & Hanna

The individuals in this photo are two of my favorite people in the whole world. My best friend Hanna, experiencing motherhood for the first time, and my newborn niece Gianna. The moment I captured this image, I knew it was frame-worthy.

#3 - Framed by our Love

Pictured: Deann & Kasmira

Kasmira called me looking for an unconventional location for their engagement shoot. She and her fiancé had just bought a house together and wanted to celebrate this milestone with a beautiful and intimate photoshoot. The photo of them framed by their new front door became my favorite from the session.

#4 - 30, Flirty, and Gorgeous

Pictured: Mist

Mist frequently appears in my portfolio, and what's incredible is that we didn't know each other until nearly three years ago when we met at a work event. It was a chance meeting, and I'm so grateful to the universe for bringing us together! Mist is a natural in front of the camera and has fantastic styles. Her photoshoot ideas are always stunning.

#5 - Down in Orangefield, Texas

Pictured: John & Jessica

This radiant moment with Jessica and John, captured during their maternity shoot. Standing in a golden, sun-soaked field, their laughter and love for each other shine as brightly as the light around them. First-time parents, their joy is palpable, and you can almost feel the excitement for the adventures awaiting them. With parents this full of life and laughter, their little one is destined to have a fun and love-filled journey ahead.

#6 - Classic Beauty & Brains

Pictured: Tina

This next favorite is a stunning graduation portrait of my high school friend, Tina, celebrating her recent college graduation. She wanted a classic studio vibe, and the result was nothing short of perfection. Her beauty and confidence radiate in every shot, making it impossible to choose which ones to present to her.

#7 - Destined for Greatness

Pictured: Tyler

Another favorite is this photo from Tyler’s high school senior portraits. Tyler is the kind of guy who makes everyone around him smile—down-to-earth, fun, and so respectful. He comes from an amazing family, and it’s clear they’ve instilled some incredible values in him. I can’t wait to see all the big things life has in store for him. But honestly, if all else fails, he could definitely have a future as a model—this photo is proof!

#8 - The Sun Says Hello

Pictured: Marcy

This next favorite is from Marcy’s college graduation photoshoot. Marcy is the kind of person whose beauty radiates from the inside out, and you can feel it shining through in this photo. It’s as if the sun itself sensed her energy and joined in to celebrate her achievement. This shot captures her joy, grace, and everything that makes her such an amazing person.

#9 - Through the Pampas Grass

Pictured: Mist & Chris

One of my favorite captures this year is this tender moment between Chris and his fiancée, Mist. Shot through tall pampas grass, it feels like a stolen glimpse into their love story. Chris is gazing at Mist with so much love, and the way the grass naturally frames them adds a dreamy, intimate touch to the photo.

#10 - At Last I See The Light

Pictured: 5 LU Nursing Graduates

My final favorite is a group graduation photoshoot featuring five incredible nursing graduates from Lamar University. It was my first group shoot, and it couldn’t have been more special. Each of them worked so hard to reach this milestone, and the happiness and relief on their faces are absolutely contagious. Capturing their shared pride and joy was such an honor—it’s a moment that celebrates their dedication and the bright futures ahead of them.

As we close the album of 2024, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the trust you’ve placed in me to capture your most cherished moments. Each photograph is more than an image—it’s a piece of your story, a snapshot of memories and experiences that make up your journey. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible year. Your trust means everything. Here’s to the moments yet to come and the stories we’ll tell together in 2025.

Happy New Year!
